According to Calciomercato, Everton could pull off a swap deal which would see them sign Robin Olsen permanently whilst offloading Bernard.

It’s claimed that Everton want to sign loanee Olsen permanently this month, but Roma won’t let him go for less than €5million (£4.5million).

Roma are though interested in signing Everton winger Bernard, having failed with a move to sign him back in October.

The Liverpool Echo reported that Carlo Ancelotti convinced Bernard to reject Roma as he was important at Goodison Park, but he could now be on the move.

The report states that Everton and Roma are working on a deal that would see Olsen join Everton permanently, with Bernard heading to Roma whilst the Italian side send a small fee.

Bernard’s wages are thought to be a slight problem, but this could make sense for all given that Bernard worked with Roma boss Paulo Fonseca at Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 28-year-old has only started two Premier League games this season, and may feel that heading to reunite with Fonseca is the best for his career.

Meanwhile, Swedish stopper Olsen is challenging Jordan Pickford for playing time at Everton, and turning his loan move permanent looks to be a smart move having been solid in limited playing time.
