Everton are reportedly keen on PSV Eindhoven’s Marcel Brands.

According to The Mirror, PSV Eindhoven director of football Marcel Brands is in talks with Everton over taking up a role at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have made two January signings, bringing in attackers Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott to boost Sam Allardyce’s options in a double swoop worth nearly £50million.
That’s another considerable outlay for Everton, who splashed the cash over the summer on the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson without much reward so far.

Now, The Mirror report that Everton are in talks over another addition, but rather than an on-field signing, this would be one for the backroom staff at Goodison Park.
It’s claimed that PSV Eindhoven’s director of football Marcel Brands is in negotiations over a move to Merseyside, as Everton look to add another highly-rated director to their recruitment staff.
Brands, 54, has been a key part of the PSV setup since leaving AZ Alkmaar in 2010, and he has helped bring in and cash in on the likes of Kevin Strootman, Georginio Wijnaldum, Dries Mertens, Luciano Narsingh and Jeffrey Bruma.

Current talents such as Gaston Pereiro, Hirving Lozano and Santiago Arias were also brought in under the Brands regime, and Everton are now making their move for the Dutchman.
It’s claimed that Steve Walsh – Everton’s director of football – could have a slightly different role if Everton do land Brands, with Brands taking a ‘global’ approach to scouting, meaning Walsh may stay domestically as the Toffees prepare to work with not one, but possibly two directors of football.
