Everton have put Burnley’s Michael Keane right at the top of their list of defensive targets.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Everton are hoping to make a breakthrough in their bid to sign Burnley defender Michael Keane this week.

Everton have made Keane their top defensive target, after he became available.

The Toffees had appeared to concede defeat to Manchester United in the race for the England international, but after Jose Mourinho’s side signed Victor Lindelof, Koeman reignited his interest.

And Keane now seems to be edging closer to moving to Goodison Park.

Everton are confident that a bid of £25 million will be enough to get Keane, and they feel that they could be close to making a breakthrough in negotiations.

Koeman is hoping for movement on the transfer in the next few days, as Everton step up their pursuit.

If Keane does move to Merseyside, he is likely to go straight into Everton’s starting line-up next season.

Everton have already completed deals for Davy Klaassen and Jordan Pickford this summer, with Koeman’s side expected to be among the most active teams in the Premier League over the transfer window.
