Brendan Rodgers’ sides hopes of luring Onyekuru to Celtic Park could be dashed by Everton.

Everton are hoping to beat Celtic to the signing of £7 million-rated Eupen forward Henry Onyekuru, the Sun on Sunday reports (30 April, page 61).
Onyekuru has long been linked with a move to Brendan Rodgers’ side, who it is claimed believed they had the advantage over English clubs due to Scotland’s slacker work permit criteria.
Despite featuring predominantly as a wide player this season, the Nigerian has scored 12 goals and made another seven in 28 Belgian top flight matches – prompting alleged interest from Southampton and Sevilla as well as Celtic.
But the report states that if Everton offer the right fee and salary, they would have a great chance of succeeding in any work permit application, despite the fact Onyekuru has yet to be capped by his country.
Toffees’ employees are said to have visited Belgium to try to close a deal for the 19-year-old, who would act as cover for Yannick Bolasie while the Congolese is out injured.

And Everton could yet inflict more misery on Celtic this summer, with both clubs said to be keen on Manchester City’s Tosin Adarabioyo (Scottish Sun) – another player of Nigerian descent.
Is Onyekuru a good signing for Everton? Or is he better off at Celtic Park?
