Report: Everton hold strong interest in Manchester City target Boubakary Soumare

Everton and Leicester City have joined Manchester City in the race to sign the Lille star, according to reports.

According to the Daily Mail, the Toffees and the Foxes hold a strong interest in signing highly-rated Lille teenager Boubakary Soumare.

The 18-year-old is highly regarded in his home country, making 10 appearances in all competitions for his club so far this season, and he has showcased his considerable talent on a consistent basis.

Unfortunately for Lille, though, his fine displays have not gone unnoticed.

The Daily Mail claim that both Everton and Leicester are prepared to challenge Manchester City for the £20 million rated Frenchman.

Sam Allardyce and Claude Puel are both reportedly keen on bolstering their central midfield options, and Soumare would fit the bill perfectly.

Standing at 6ft 1in tall, and powerfully built, the Lille midfielder possesses all of the physical attributes required to be successful in the English game, what with the robust nature of the Premier League.

Whether Everton or Leicester have a chance of beating City to Soumare’s signature is doubtful, but the offer of more regular first-team football could tip the scales in their favour, and with just 10 days remaining until the transfer window slams shut, this will certainly be one to keep a close eye on.
