Everton are set to step up their chase of Kurt Zouma, with Marco Silva making the Chelsea man one of his top targets.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Everton have told Kurt Zouma that they want to sign him.

Everton have now entered negotiations with Chelsea for Zouma, as Marco Silva looks to bring the centre-back to Goodison Park again.

Everton had Zouma on loan last season and he played a key role.

Everton quickly made Zouma and Andre Gomes their top targets this summer, and after securing the signing of the Portuguese man from Barcelona, Silva has turned his attention to getting the powerful centre-back.

It is not totally clear whether Chelsea will be open to dealing with Everton over Zouma at the moment, as they are operating under a transfer ban, and therefore would not be able to replace the Frenchman.

It has previously been suggested in The Sun that Everton would be willing to pay £30 million to sign Zouma on a permanent deal.

If Everton could land Zouma on a permanent deal then it would be a major boost to Silva’s side.

Zouma formed a very solid partnership with Michael Keane in the heart of Everton’s defence last term.

And if Zouma did join then Everton would have a very solid foundation to build from next term.
