Everton’s interest in Mina has stepped up in recent times, and he is now their top defensive target.

However, it seems that Mina could arrive at Goodison Park on loan rather than on a permanent deal, according to Liverpool Echo.

Everton have already made contact with Barcelona, and are hopeful of completing a transfer for the towering centre-back, who has been one of the stars of the World Cup.

Mina scored three goals for Colombia, including a header against England, during their run of the World Cup quarter-finals.

Marco Silva is yet to make a signing at Everton, but he has made strengthening the Toffees’ defence his top priority.

If Mina doesn’t arrive at Everton, Silva could reportedly move for either Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson or Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson.

If Everton were to sign Mina, it seems likely he would slot in alongside Michael Keane in their defence.
