Everton and Arsenal are reportedly keen on the Basel ace.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Everton have ‘concrete’ interest in signing Basel defender Eray Comert, and are considering a £7 million bid for the Swiss ace in the summer.

The Toffees spent heavily during last summer’s transfer window, but they have really struggled this season, and it is clear to see that Marco Silva needs to strengthen his defensive department.

And the Daily Mail claims that Comert features highly on the Portuguese’s wish-list, although Everton will face competition from Arsenal for the youngster’s signature.

Good signing for Everton?

The 21-year-old is undoubtedly talented, and he seems to have a great future ahead of him, but he is still rough around the edges, and it is highly unlikely that he would make an instant impact at Goodison Park.

Comert has only made 54 senior appearances in his fledgling career thus far, but he has already shown what he is capable of.

Standing at 6ft 1in tall, Comert is strong in the air, but he is also quick along the ground, and he is an impressive reader of the game.

He could go on and become a really top-class performer, and should Everton sign him for the £7 million fee that has been mooted, it could turn to to be a real bargain for the Blues.
