According to Italian reports, Everton are “absolute favourites” to sign the Italian ‘keeper in January.
Could a possible loan move to Everton happen for Neto in January?
Ronald Koeman has made it clear that Maarten Stekelenburg is his number one keeper, with that said the Blues lack any quality options to replace Stekelenburg if needed.
Calciomercato has reported the early interest the Blues have in Neto and believes that Koeman is keen to make a move in the new year.
Former Fiorentina keeper Neto
Everton have been described has ‘absolute favourites’ to sign the Juventus number two ‘keeper – but only on a two-year loan deal.
According to the same reports, Neto has been pushing for a move away from the Italian club. However, Juve only want a loan move for the keeper as the 27-year-old is still in the club’s future plans.
Neto joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2015, but has only made nine appearances for the club. The 27-year-old had made 72 appearances for Fiorentina and played for Atletico Paranaense in Brazil before that.
Will Koeman be on the look-out for a new keeper in January?
The Blues are lacking competition for places, a new keeper would certainly put the pressure on Stekelenburg to carry on performing. The Dutchman has come under criticism lately, most recently his performance for the Dutch national team. In the 1-0 defeat to France, the keeper conceded a Paul Pogba goal that should have easily been saved.
Everton’s Maarten Stekelenburg
Despite putting in some early good performances for the Blues, the possible arrival of Neto in January would give Koeman the option of dropping Stekelenburg – if the Dutch ‘keeper fails to perform.
