Everton are thought to be keen to snap up the Spanish centre-back from Real Sociedad.

Everton face paying £20 million more for Diego Llorente this summer than when they first wanted him.

Noticias De Gipuzkoa have suggested that Everton want the Real Sociedad centre-back, and he would cost £27 million to buy this summer.

That price tag is unlikely to put Everton off, as they are very financially strong nowadays.

However, Everton may still regret not pushing through a transfer for Llorente when he first emerged on their radar.

Marca reported that the Toffees made an enquiry for Llorente when he was at Real Madrid in 2017, before the centre-back moved to Sociedad.

The Spanish side paid just £7 million for Llorente back then, and his value has now sky-rocketed.

And while the 25-year-old would still present an appealing option for Everton this summer, they could have got a far better value for money signing if they had pushed through with their initial interest two years ago.
