According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Everton are eyeing up a January move for Benfica’s Raul Jimenez.

Everton have struggled going forward so far this season, after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku sufficiently.

Lukaku left Everton to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window, and Ronald Koeman was unable to bring in a new number nine.

Everton reportedly were wiling to bid £70 million for Diego Costa and were also keen on Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, but neither transfer went through.

And the Toffees are now eager to end their search for a new front man in January, with Jimenez a target.

Jimenez scored 11 goals in 32 appearances for Benfica, across all competitions last term, with his performances catching the eye.

This time around the Mexican international has not been as prolific, and he is still searching for his first league goal, but Koeman reportedly sees potential in the striker.

The Sun claimed that Benfica were looking for £46 million for the striker during the summer transfer window, and it remains to be seen whether they will have reduced this asking price now.
