Everton are keen on signing Uruguayan defender Mauricio Lemos, reports Canarias7.

Lemos plays for La Liga side Las Palmas, who currently sit 12th in La Liga.

The 21-year-old centre-back has won rave reviews for his performances this season, and has chipped in with four goals for the Canary Islands club.

Lemos is former a Uruguayan under-20 international, who signed for Las Palmas from Russian side Rubin Kazan in January 2016 on loan before making a permanent switch.

Canarias7 report that Barcelona then enquired after his signature late last summer, and were directed to the 30 million release clause he has in his contract [£26m].

That is a high figure for Everton to pay even if they have the finances, and would hope to try and convince Las Palmas to meet them halfway, considering they paid just 2.5 million Euros to sign him a year ago.
