Everton could end up parting company with current boss Sam Allardyce at the end of the season.

According to a report from The Sun, Everton have kept Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti on their radar as they continue to consider Sam Allardyce’s future with the Toffees, but they may face a tough time trying to get Paulo Fonseca to arrive at Goodison Park.

Everton and Allardyce appears to be a match that may have run its course. Big Sam ensured that the Toffees were swiftly taken out of the discussion regarding teams that may be in potential relegation trouble, but their hopes of finishing seventh took another hit at the weekend and the style of play has never pleased the majority of the supporters.

It appears that Farhad Moshiri may also be underwhelmed with the Englishman and may be preparing to make a change, with Fonseca a candidate that he is keen to consider.

The Sun reports however, that Shakhtar Donetsk are preparing to offer Fonseca a staggering £8 million contract to stay, and that may leave a move to the Premier League in some doubt. But the Toffees have considered alternatives.

The Sun adds that both Silva and Ancelotti are on their radar. But while they are both currently out of work, they will demand large salaries to come in this summer, so it appears set to come down to how determined Moshiri is to making a change.

Is time up for Big Sam at Everton?

With six games to go, it is beginning to look unlikely that a top seven finish will be possible for the Toffees with Burnley six points clear and boasting a game in hand.

Allardyce will argue that he has done a good job given the circumstances in which he took over, but convincing the Everton fans that he is the right man to take them forward will be an extremely difficult task for the former Crystal Palace boss.

Appointing Silva may be a gamble given that his critics will suggest that his time in England has been a lot more disappointing than most like to point out. Similarly, Fonseca’s lack of experience outside Portugal and Ukraine makes trying to compete with Shakhtar on a financial basis seem a risk also.

Ancelotti would appear the safest pair of hands out of the three potential targets. But whether Moshiri is confident enough to make the change and appoint one of the three targets remains to be seen.
