According to the print version of La Stampa (via Sempre Inter), Everton have enquired over the availability of Inter Milan maestro Christian Eriksen.

The report states that Antonio Conte’s side are happy to let the Denmark international leave the San Siro.

However, that is on the condition that any club who takes him must pay his salary in full for the remainder of the campaign.

Eriksen has struggled massively since joining the Serie A giants from Tottenham in a deal worth £16.9 million in January 2020.

In 38 appearances for Inter Milan, the 28-year-old has scored just four goals while providing only three assists as well.

Despite that poor form, the Goodison Park faithful should know all about Eriksen from his seven years in north London.

The Toffees supporters should also know all about the Dane, as he’s scored five goals in 12 games against them according to Transfermarkt.

Eriksen has proven to be a menace against Everton. However, he could well join the side he’s tormented in the past if La Stampa are to be believed.

Danny Murphy even once said that the former Ajax man is similar to Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil when speaking on talkSPORT.

The ex-Liverpool man said: ‘A lot of the time Eriksen’s best stuff comes when the team is doing well and the players around him are playing well. A bit like Ozil. [He cannot] grab a game by the scruff of its neck on his own. He’s not a physical presence. But he’s technically a good player, who could bang in a good free-kick. ‘

Perhaps he just isn’t suited to Italian football.

Crucially, however, his record of 51 goals and 62 assists in 226 Premier League games suggests he’d be a wise addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
