Report: Everton could sign Domagoj Vida before making a single Besiktas appearance

Besiktas will sign Domagoj Vida on a free from Dynamo Kiev and could then sell him to Premier League giants Everton for a profit.

Domagoj Vida has not officially signed for Besiktas yet but reports are suggesting that he could already be on his way to another club in the January transfer window.

It is understood that the Croatian international has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Turkish champions with his contract at Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev set to come to an end before the turn of the year.

But Turkish publication Milliyet has stated that Besiktas may consider offers to sell Vida immediately as he arrives – a rather strange recruitment tactic but one that will earn the Super Lig holders a rather impressive profit.

The report claims that Everton are very interested in the 28-year-old. And if they offer around £9 million, they might be able to bring Vida to Goodison Park in January.

Everton would not need to be fearful of breaking FIFA sanctions either as Vida is unlikely to ever play a game for Besiktas – meaning the Merseysiders will get around the rule which states that someone cannot feature for three different clubs in the same season.

In Vida, Everton would be getting a defender who would provide plenty of versatility to their backline. The 51-time international is renowned for his ability to play anywhere across the defence, offering new Toffees boss Sam Allardyce plenty of options and quality in reserve.

Though you have to wonder why Everton would not do more to bring Vida to Everton directly from Kiev in January – cutting out the middle man and saving themselves £9 million.
