Everton are reportedly challenging Tottenham Hotspur for Yves Bissouma.
According to Sky Sports, Everton could rival Tottenham Hotspur for Lille midfielder Yves Bissouma – but it was Steve Walsh driving their interest.
The Toffees face another big summer having sacked Sam Allardyce, with a new manager and a host of new signings needed to bounce back from a thoroughly disappointing season.
With Morgan Schneiderlin suffering a poor season, another midfielder could be pursued this summer, and Everton appear to have set their sights on a Ligue 1 star.
Sky Sports report that Everton have been pursuing Lille midfielder Yves Bissouma, and may well challenge Tottenham for his signature, given that Spurs have been scouting him all season.
The 21-year-old, who already has 15 caps for Mali, hit three goals and one assist this season, impressing with his ability to play centrally or out wide, providing the drive from midfield that Spurs want to succeed Mousa Dembele.
Bissouma could provide more athleticism in the middle of the park for Everton, but it’s unclear whether new director of football Marcel Brands will continue to push the Toffees’ interest.
The report notes that former director of football Steve Walsh – sacked last week alongside Allardyce – was the one launching the interest in Bissouma, and his exit could just affect Everton’s pursuit.
