Everton could now miss out on signing Pedro as Genoa are exploring a deal to sign the Roma forward Carlo Ancelotti wanted to take to Goodison Park, per Calciomercato.

Pedro joined Roma last summer on a free transfer after leaving Chelsea following five years at Stamford Bridge. He penned a three-year deal at the Stadio Olimpico, as well, but his time in Rome may already be over.

All the indications coming out of Roma suggest Pedro’s adventure has reached its end in just 11-months. The 33-year-old was a regular under former boss Paulo Fonseca with 40 outings across all competitions. But the arrival of Jose Mourinho has changed the picture.

Genoa are on high alert to Pedro’s Roma uncertainty, as the Spaniard can be their big arrival of the summer. But the Rossoblu are not alone in courting the £79,000-per-week forward, who scored six goals and seven assists last term.

Like many, Davide Ballardini’s Stadio Luigi Ferraris side have not made a bid. Everton also explored a deal for Pedro in May, per Calciomercato, as Ancelotti wanted the Roma forward at Goodison Park. He has long admired the three-time Champions League winner.

Ancelotti and Pedro could have united at Everton had the Italian not left to take charge at Real Madrid. And the Toffees could now miss out on the 2010 World Cup winner with Genoa showing increasing admiration.

Ancelotti exit to see Everton miss out on Pedro transfer from Roma?

Ancelotti was the driving force behind Everton’s interest in Pedro, and the Italian now being at Real Madrid could see the Toffees also miss out on signing the Roma forward to Genoa.

Rafa Benitez also appears to have his own targets lined up to bolster the Blues’ wings with Andros Townsend signed. Everton are exploring bringing in Burnley’s £25m winger Dwight McNeil, per The Times, as well.

But Pedro, as well as experience, could have added a highly-rated presence to the ranks on Merseyside. Frank Lampard was certainly awash with praise during their time at Chelsea.

“He was outstanding in work ethic and players look up to him for what he has done. Always a goal threat,” Lampard said, via the Daily Mail. “He can be one of our most important players until the end of the season. He is an infectious player.”
