Report: Everton could move for Islam Slimani if Olivier Giroud stays at Arsenal

Everton have been linked with Leicester City’s Islam Slimani and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud in the summer transfer window.

Everton could make a move for Leicester City striker Islam Slimani if they fail to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal, according to The Express.

According to the report, Everton manager Ronald Koeman is interested in signing France international striker Giroud from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

However, Koeman could switch his attentions towards Leicester’s Slimani if the France international decides to remain at the Emirates Stadium and fight for his place in the Arsenal starting lineup, states the report.

Slimani joined Leicester from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £30 million.

The Algeria international striker arrived at the King Power Stadium with a good reputation, and the 29-year-old’s overall’s performance was decent.

The striker made 13 starts in the Premier League last season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in the process.

In five Champions League appearances for the Foxes during the 2016-17 campaign, Slimani scored one goal and provided one assist.
