Everton are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Lucas Digne from Barcelona with discussions progressing well.

Lucas Digne of FC Barcelona controls the ball during the La Liga match between Barcelona and Malaga at Camp Nou on October 21, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain.

According to a report from the Daily Mail’s live transfer blog (28/07; 13:33), Everton are close to agreeing a deal to sign Barcelona defender Lucas Digne, and there is a hope that terms could be finalised as early as Monday.

In terms of incoming signings, it has been a fairly quiet start to the window for the Toffees. Marco Silva sealed a reunion with Richarlison earlier this week, but the Brazilian is the only player to have arrived through the Goodison Park door thus far.

It appears however, that signing number two may not be too far away. The Daily Mail reports on their live transfer blog (28/07; 13:33) that Marcel Brands recently flew out to Spain to try and conclude a deal for the Frenchman.

And it seems that Digne’s potential move to Everton is edging ever closer, with the Mail reporting that terms could be completed on Monday as Silva looks to bolster his defensive ranks.

A deal for Digne would seemingly see the Toffees transform their left flank with Richarlison likely to be play in front of the 25-year-old further down the line.

And while Digne may not have been able to make the number of appearances that he would have liked during his time at the Nou Camp, there is no question that he could prove to be a superb signing for the Premier League side when you consider that the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Roma had signed him in the years before he sealed his move to the Catalan giants.
