Barcelona and Jean-Clair Todibo will choose between Everton and two other clubs as to where the defender will spend the rest of this season on loan, according to Le 10 Sport.
The French website claims that, unless the situation turns around, Todibo will sign for either Everton, Napoli or Rennes.
And next few hours are said to be decisive.
Todibo moved to Barca from Toulouse two years ago but has appeared on just five occasions for the Catalan club.
He spent the second half of last season on loan to Schalke 04, where he impressed alongside the Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny.
But it remains to be seen if the pair will be reunited at Goodison Park ahead of next month’s transfer deadline.
The Independent reported earlier on Friday that while Everton are in talks to sign Todibo on loan, Barcelona are refusing to sanction a deal which does not contain an obligation-to-buy clause of around £18 million.

The newspaper claimed Everton have turned to the 20-year-old after Chelsea chose to keep Fikayo Tomori at the expense of Antonio Rudiger.
