According to Tuttomercatoweb, Everton are continuing talks with Roma over a deal to sign Robin Olsen permanently.
The Toffees wanted to land an experienced stopper on deadline day back in October, and failed to bring in Manchester United’s Sergio Romero.
That meant Ancelotti returned to former club Roma to sign Olsen, securing him on a season-long loan as competition for Jordan Pickford.
Olsen has made five Premier League appearances for Everton so far, often being used to come in and just give Pickford a nudge when out of form.
The 31-year-old has ultimately provided exactly what Everton wanted, and it’s stated that the Toffees are in continued contact to buy him this summer.
A permanent move for Olsen surely won’t cost a great deal; after all, they didn’t even pay a fee to bring him on loan in the first place.
Having an experienced stopper like Olsen ready to go if Pickford is injured or suffers a drop in form is ideal, but much will depend on Olsen himself.
Does he want to commit to being second choice at Everton? He’s clearly a solid goalkeeper and could start for a number of teams, and Everton will hope to convince him to stay this summer.
