According to The Telegraph, Everton have made contact with Rafa Benítez after struggling in their pursuit of Nuno Espirito Santo and David Moyes.
What’s the story?
Well, the report claims that Everton held unproductive talks with Nuno, who was recently sacked by Wolves and quickly replaced with Bruno Lage.
The Telegraph state that Moyes was also an option.
However, Farhad Moshiri has an excellent relationship with the West Ham board, and does not want to meet the Scot unless the Irons give permission.
After the season West Ham have just had, it feels unlikely they will give permission for Moyes to speak to Everton, in our view.
Now, Everton have sounded out Benítez to see if he’d be interested in replacing Carlo Ancelotti.
Benítez would be a fine appointment

Forget the Liverpool links – Benítez would be a brilliant appointment.
The Spaniard has won an incredible 12 trophies during his managerial career, including the Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.
On an individual level, the 61-year-old was also named World’s Best Club Coach in 2004 after winning La Liga and the UEFA Cup with Valencia.

The Telegraph add that Benítez still lives on Merseyside, and is available after leaving his role at Dalian Yifang.
Hiring the ex-Chelsea boss would make too much sense for Everton.
Benítez is arguably the best option out there, and Everton must ignore his ties to Liverpool and get him to Goodison Park.
