Report: Everton contact Arsenal over Theo Walcott

Everton haven’t given up hope on signing Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, according to a report.

The Daily Mail have reported that Everton have recently asked Arsenal about Theo Walcott.

The 28-year-old attacker is heavily linked with a move away from North London this month but all signs have pointed to a return to Southampton.

The Daily Mail reported this week that the Saints, who developed Walcott and sold him to the Gunners as a 16-year-old 12 years ago, are keen on signing their former product on loan.

Everton’s interest goes back to last summer but the same publication has now suggested that the Toffees have enquired about him again.

All the talk regarding Everton at the moment has centered around a move for Besiktas hitman Cenk Tosun who, according to The Guardian, is closing in on a move to Goodison.

But, hypothetically, if the Merseyside club could sign Tosun and Walcott then it would have to represent a very good transfer window, even if they sign nobody else.

The Toffees’ problem this season have been goals and a lack of them and although Walcott receives his fair share of criticism for failing to develop into the player that many expected, he remains a very talented goalscorer and one who can certainly help them going forward.

Sam Allardyce has done a fantastic job since replacing Ronald Koeman last month, shoring up the defence in a big way. All that’s left to do is add some firepower and Walcott and Tosun would undoubtedly do that.

The England international is valued at around £20 million, according to Transfermarkt.
