Everton are looking to bolster their defensive set up in the summer, and are considering a move for Croatian defender, Domagoj Vida, according to reports from Calciomercato.

The 27-year-old has been playing for Dynamo Kiev since 2012, and has made 82 league appearances for the Ukrainian club. This season, he has played 20 league matches and has two goals to his name.

Vida usually plays as a central defender, but he is versatile enough to operate as a right back.

Defence is one area that Ronald Koeman needs to address in the summer. Phil Jagielka, a long-term servant at the club, could leave Goodison Park at the end of the season.

Furthermore, Koeman would need a player to fill the right-back position, with Seamus Coleman certain to remain out on the sidelines for a lengthy period with a broken foot.

While most of the effort will be on retaining the services of key players like Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley, Everton can do smart business here if they secure a deal for Vida.

Vida’s current contract is set to expire in 2018, which means Everton can sign the Croatian international on a bargain.

Everton are interested in signing Michael Keane, according to The Sun, but could face tough competition from Liverpool for the Burnley defender.
