Everton are considering turning to Mikel Arteta should they decide to get rid of Sam Allardyce at the end of the season.

Allardyce started life as Toffees boss well, but his tenure has not exactly captured the fans’ imagination, and the Mirror is now reporting that a change in the summer could be entirely possible with the supporters largely turning on Big Sam.

It is not the first time that Kenwright has looked at Arteta as a potential manager. The Mirror reported back in December that the Everton chairman wanted to appoint the 35-year-old after Ronald Koeman’s departure earlier in the season.

Worth gambling on Arteta?
While Arteta may not have any managerial experience yet, he comes highly-rated having worked so closely with Pep Guardiola and, given his ties to the Toffees, would surely be a much more popular appointment that Allardyce has been.
Arteta played over 200 times for the club before leaving for Arsenal in 2011 and was a key player during one of Everton’s best periods in the Premier League era.
It may be a gamble to appoint the Spaniard, but with the fans clearly not taking to Allardyce, this summer may be the ideal time to pursue an appointment – especially if other teams are considering an approach.
