Everton are reportedly keen on Gremio’s Walter Kannemann.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Everton are interested in snapping up Gremio defender Walter Kannemann – with competition coming from Cagliari.
The Toffees secured their second signing of the summer on Wednesday morning, as left back Lucas Digne completed his protracted move from Barcelona, joining Richarlison at Goodison Park following his big-money move from Watford.
Those are two positive additions for Everton, but new director of football Marcel Brands must not stop there in his recruitment drive, with a centre back an absolute must before next week’s transfer deadline.
Ashley Williams appears to be on his way to Stoke City, whilst Phil Jagielka is in the dying embers of his career and Michael Keane looked more like Bambi on ice than the rock who starred in the Burnley defence.
Barcelona’s Yerry Mina and Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo continue to be linked, but Corriere Dello Sport now throw a new name into the mix – Gremio defender Walter Kannemann.
It’s claimed that Everton are right in the race to sign Kannemann this summer, with Italian side Cagliari also keen on the 27-year-old, who has been starring in Brazil.

Formerly of San Lorenzo in his native Argentina and Mexican outfit Atlas, Kannemann has been a regular for Gremio since his 2016 arrival, racking up close to 100 appearances for the Brazilian side.
Kannemann isn’t the tallest of defenders at 6ft tall, but he has an incredible leap to make himself great in the air, whilst he is also quick and strong, and could be an under-the-radar target for Brands in his bid to improve the Everton back line.
