Everton are reportedly considering a move for David Moyes.

According to The Mirror, Everton are considering a shock move to bring David Moyes back to the club should they choose to part ways with manager Ronald Koeman.

Koeman was backed heavily with new signings over the summer after a promising first season at Goodison Park, but the Toffees have endured a disastrous start to the new campaign.

With four defeats in eight Premier League games as well as one point from three Europa League outings, Everton are struggling on all fronts right now, and manager Koeman is under huge pressure.

The Dutchman needs a result against Arsenal this afternoon to ease the pressure, but speculation is mounting over a possible managerial change at Goodison Park – though fans may didn’t see the latest rumours coming.

The Mirror report that Everton are considering a move for their former manager David Moyes, with the Scot emerging as one of a host of names in the frame should Koeman lose his job.

Moyes, 54, left Preston North End to take over as Everton manager way back in 2002, and took charge of more than 500 games over an 11-year spell with the Toffees, winning 42% of his games before heading to Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson’s replacement in 2013.

The Scot’s career has nosedived since then; United sacked him after eight months in the job, a move to Spain with Real Sociedad didn’t give him much more success, and he suffered relegation with Sunderland last season.

Currently being touted for the Scotland job, Moyes’ reputation has taken a major hit in recent years, and when Farhad Moshiri became the club’s majority shareholder, fans expected an ambitious future – not going back to what they once had.

Yet, Moyes remains popular with chairman Bill Kenwright, meaning he could be put forward as one name to replace Koeman, but it ultimately seems unlikely that Moyes would land the job and return to the Goodison Park dugout, over four years since leaving.
