According to the Daily Mail, Everton are considering moves for a number of left backs, including West Ham United’s Aaron Cresswell and Porto’s Alex Telles.

The Toffees have tied up two signings so far this month, with manager Sam Allardyce splashing almost £50million to land attackers Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott from Besiktas and Arsenal respectively.

Allardyce only set out to bring in two signings this month, but with four defeats in a row in all competitions, more additions could be landed, with a new left back imperative.

Leighton Baines is ageing and struggling with injuries, whilst Luke Garbutt isn’t even registered for Premier League action and Brendan Galloway is flattering to deceive on loan at Sunderland, which has forced Cuco Martina to start at left back of late.

Allardyce must find another left back from somewhere, and the Daily Mail report that he is considering a number of options, including West Ham United’s Aaron Cresswell, and Porto’s Alex Telles.

Cresswell, 28, was signed by Allardyce at West Ham in the summer of 2014, and the former Ipswich man has racked up nearly 150 appearances for the Hammers whilst impressing with his attacking ability.

Born in Liverpool but very much a fan of the Reds, Everton may feel that Cresswell can be tempted back to Merseyside, even if it means him turning out for the Blues – and a reunion with Allardyce may also be appealing.

With West Ham no doubt reluctant to sell though, Everton must consider alternatives, and it’s claimed that Porto star Alex Telles has emerged as a possible target for the Toffees.

The Brazilian star, 25, has notched an impressive seven assists in all competitions this season, and the former Galatasaray may yet emerge as a major target for Everton before the end of the month.
