Everton are reportedly confident of securing Jack Wilshere’s signature.
According to Football.London, Everton are growing increasingly confident that they can secure the signature of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on a free transfer this summer.
Wilshere, 26, has come up through the ranks with Arsenal following his 2001 move from Luton Town, with the midfielder long touted for stardom during his time at the Emirates Stadium.
However, injuries have plagued Wilshere during his time in North London, meaning he has made just shy of 200 appearances for the club, when many expected him to have made much, much more.
Wilshere’s time at Arsenal may now becoming to an end given that his contract expires this summer, and talks over a new deal appear to be at a standstill.
Football.London now report that Everton are confident that they can secure Wilshere’s signature on a free transfer this summer, beating off the likes of AC Milan and West Ham United.
It’s claimed that Everton will not only hand Wilshere a huge signing-on fee, but will also match the wages he currently earns at Arsenal – whereas the Gunners are suggesting he should take a £20,000-a-week wage cut.
However, Everton could yet face an issue, as it’s stated that manager Sam Allardyce is driving the interest in Wilshere as he is a huge fan of the midfielder, but his own future isn’t secure just yet.
If Everton decide to sack Allardyce and appoint a new manager, they may not be quite so keen on signing Wilshere, meaning a deal is far from secure right now.
