Everton are reportedly closing in on Rennes defender Ramy Bensebaini.

According to the Daily Star, Everton are set to win the race to sign Rennes defender Ramy Bensebaini ahead of German side Stuttgart.
The Toffees have yet to venture into the transfer market for a new signing this summer, but they do look to be on the verge of bolstering Marco Silva’s options.
Bringing in a left back was priority number one for Everton this summer given question marks over Leighton Baines’ fitness and future, with no proven cover behind the veteran.

A host of left backs have been linked with moves to Goodison Park, but the Daily Star now report that Rennes ace Ramy Bensebaini is set to become Everton’s first signing of the summer.
Bensebaini will allegedly complete a £13million move to Goodison Park, with Everton poised to beat German side Stuttgart to his signature after seeing him impress in French football.
The 23-year-old, who can also play at centre back or even in holding midfield, has been a dependable figure for Rennes since signing from Paradou in his native Algeria back in 2016.

If true, Bensebaini should give Silva great versatility given that he can play a number of positions, and would also arrive with international experience having picked up 11 caps for Algeria.
Bensebaini’s reported arrival wouldn’t even stop Everton from pursuing Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, with Baines continually linked with MLS clubs, with Bensebaini and Tierney two great options at left back for Silva if Everton do decide to go for both.
