Everton boss Ronald Koeman and Jose Fonte worked together at Southampton.
According to the Daily Mirror, Everton are prepared to bid for Southampton defender Jose Fonte in the January transfer window.
Fonte has handed a transfer request in at Southampton, after becoming frustrated at St. Mary’s.
The Portuguese defender does not appear to have the best relationship with Southampton boss Claude Puel, and an exit could be on the cards.

Puel has admitted that Southampton are now prepared to listen to offers for Fonte, and Ronald Koeman is keen for a reunion.
Everton are ready to make a bid, but whether they will meet Southampton’s asking price remains to be seen.
The Saints are reportedly wanting £12 million for Fonte, which could be deemed too expensive for a player of his advancing years.

Fonte is now 33-years-old, meaning he would have little resale value if he was to move to Goodison Park.
Everton are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table, while Southampton are in 10th place.
