According to Sky Sports, Norwich City have rejected Everton’s bid for defender Ben Godfrey amid claims he wants to go.
It’s claimed that Everton offered £20million plus £6million in add-ons for Godfrey, in the hope of luring him to Goodison Park.
However, Norwich has snubbed the offer, as they fight to keep their talented young centre back at Carrow Road.
Godfrey has become Everton’s top centre back target, with a loan deal for Chelsea talent Fikayo Tomori now seen as unlikely.
It’s now up to Everton to decide whether or not to come back in with another bid, having already spent on the likes of Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure this summer.
The Liverpool Echo report that Godfrey is hoping to join Everton, but his wishes now rest on Everton coming back with a new offer.
Godfrey has been praised as ‘really good’ by Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, so another bid can’t be ruled as the Toffees pursue a new centre back.
The 22-year-old’s ability to play in holding midfield is appealing too, but just how much Everton are prepared to pay remains to be seen after their first offer failed.
