Everton are reportedly back in talks with manager Sam Allardyce.
According to Sky Sports, Everton have re-opened talks with Sam Allardyce over becoming their new manager following Ronald Koeman’s exit.
The Toffees have endured a miserable few days, first losing 5-1 by Atalanta in the Europe League before being thumped 4-1 by Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
Caretaker boss David Unsworth hasn’t been able to steady the ship at Goodison Park, and over a month on from Ronald Koeman’s exit as Everton manager, a replacement still hasn’t been found.
A pursuit of Watford’s Marco Silva has failed, and Sky Sports report that talks have been re-opened with Sam Allardyce over a possible move to Goodison Park.
Allardyce, 63, has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season, having kept the Eagles away from relegation – and many thought that he wouldn’t be returning to management.
However, Allardyce has been linked with Everton for a number of weeks, only to tell talkSPORT that he was pulling out of the race for the job as he didn’t feel wanted by the Toffees.
Having been previously reluctant to take the job until the end of the season, it’s now claimed that talks have been re-opened over the last 48 hours, with progress made on the length of contract that Allardyce wants.
That may now mean that Everton offer Allardyce an 18-month deal rather than attempting to bring him in as a firefighter, and it remains to be seen just how Everton fans would feel about that.
