Everton are reportedly vying with Arsenal for the signature of Rachid Ghezzal.

According to Foot Mercato, Everton are back in talks with the representatives of Lyon star Rachid Ghezzal – but so are Arsenal.

Ghezzal, 24, was born in Lyon and joined the club at the age of just five, and made his debut for the club in 2012 having made it all the way up through the ranks.

The Algerian international, who can play out wide or as a playmaker, really hit the headlines last season with eight goals and eight assists in Ligue 1, and his exploits unsurprisingly attracted interest.

RMC Sport reported back in August that Everton were hoping to sign Ghezzal, but he had turned them down in order to stay with Lyon, heading into the final year of his contract with the club.

Ghezzal has notched two goals and two assists in Ligue 1 this season, and with just six months left on his deal with Lyon, he can now sign a pre-contract agreement with another club – and interest is building again.

Foot Mercato report that Everton are back in talks with Ghezzal’s representatives in an attempt to finally land their man, but the Toffees face major competition for his signature.

Premier League rivals Arsenal are also believed to be keen, along with the likes of Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Valencia, meaning Ghezzal could be spoilt for choice.

With pace and skill, Ghezzal is bound to attract major interest given that he can join a club for free, and Everton will be hoping it’s a case of second time lucky with the Lyon ace.
