Everton are reportedly keen on Real Sociedad’s Willian Jose again.

According to The Sun (p62), Everton are rekindling their interest in signing Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose as Ronald Koeman continues to pursue a new striker.

The Toffees have splashed the cash this summer, bringing in the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney to boost Ronald Koeman’s squad.

However, having sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in a big-money deal earlier this summer, Everton are still in the market for another centre forward – and appear to be circling back to a former target.

Back in April, the Daily Mail reported that Everton were closing in on a £28million deal for Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose, but that rumour has gone cold over the summer, with the Toffees sealing deals for other targets.

Now, The Sun report that Everton are back in the market for the Brazilian once again, in the hope of securing a deal worth at least £25million as Koeman looks to land a big-money centre forward to fill Lukaku’s boots.

Willian Jose had spells with the likes of Sao Paulo, Gremio, Santos, Real Madrid, Real Zaragoza and Las Palmas before signing for Real Sociedad last summer, and he starred last term with 12 goals and four assists in La Liga, whilst he even has three goals in five games already this term.

A powerful target man with great aerial ability, Willian Jose certainly fits what Ronald Koeman likes in his strikers, having previously worked with Graziano Pelle and targeted Olivier Giroud and Christian Benteke already this summer.

Having wanted him earlier this summer, new links to signing the 25-year-old do make sense for Everton, though he may just be one of a number of striking options Koeman is looking at ahead of the transfer deadline.
