Everton are very close to tying up a deal to sign Dalian Pro centre forward Salomon Rondon before tonight’s transfer deadline.
That’s according to Sky Sports (17:21), Everton are moving ever closer to getting their man in as the 11pm cut-off point looms.
Boss Rafael Benitez has been keen to bring in another striker, preferably an experienced one to offer support to Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top.
The natural link was to Rondon, who has the experience Benitez wants at the age of 31 and with 140 Premier League appearances to his name.
Benitez is a huge fan of Rondon. He signed the Venezuelan for Newcastle in 2018, and Rondon hit 11 goals in 32 league outings for the Magpies.
When Benitez left Newcastle for Dalian Pro in China, he took Rondon with him. With 14 goals in 28 games over in China, Rondon continued to score goals.

After a brief spell back in Russia with CSKA Moscow, the former Zenit St Petersburg and Rubin Kazan ace is now coming back to England.
The Daily Mail noted just a matter of days ago that West Ham United wanted to sign Rondon, as did Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It looks like Everton have won the race though, with the Toffees expecting this move to be done by the end of the day.
