According to Sky Sports, Everton are closing in on a deal to sign winger Andros Townsend on a free transfer, reuniting him with Rafael Benitez.
Townsend has been a free agent since his Crystal Palace contract expired at the end of June.
The Eagles chose not to give Townsend a new deal, releasing the 30-year-old as a free agent with the club going in a new direction.
There haven’t really been too many rumours surrounding Townsend’s next club, but Everton are now leading the race out of nowhere.
It’s claimed that Everton are on the verge of signing Townsend on a free transfer; you would have to believe that this is a two-year contract at most.
Townsend notched one goal and five assists in 34 games for Palace last season, and will be looking to get back to his best under Benitez.

The wide man played under Benitez briefly at Newcastle in 2016, but was unable to help keep the Magpies in the Premier League.
Townsend is still a huge fan of Benitez though, recently telling Sky Sports that Benitez is good on the training pitch and a good man manager, so it’s no shock that he wants to reunite with the Spaniard.
