According to the Daily Mail, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are two of the clubs who are watching Nottingham Forest forward Ben Brereton on a regular basis.
Managerless Forest enjoyed a stunning Sunday evening, beating Arsenal 4-2 in the Third Round of the FA Cup, dumping the holders out of the competition.
One of Forest’s key men on the night was forward Ben Brereton, who terrorised the Arsenal defence and manager Arsene Wenger on Sunday night with a superb performance at the City Ground.
Brereton, 18, showed pace and drive throughout the game, and converted the penalty for the third goal in Forest’s win, summing up why Premier League teams want to sign him.
Now, the Daily Mail claim that a host of clubs are regularly scouting Brereton for a move to the top flight, with Everton and Tottenham understood to be monitoring him closely.
Crystal Palace and Leicester City are also thought to be watching Brereton, with Forest potentially having to fend off interest in their teenage sensation in 2018.
After selling winger Oliver Burke to RB Leipzig in 2016 for £15million, it’s claimed that Forest would want a similar fee for Brereton, with Premier League sides having to spend big if they want the young striker.
With Fernando Llorente in this 30’s, developing a player like Brereton behind Harry Kane could be ideal for Tottenham and manager Mauricio Pochettino, whilst Everton have been collecting young talent in recent years, and adding Brereton to the likes of Ademola Lookman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be appealing – if they can tempt Forest into a deal.
