Everton and Newcastle United have reportedly got their eye on Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen.
According to a report from page seven of The Sun’s Goals section (print edition; 28th January 2018), Newcastle and Everton are both interested in signing £10 million-rated Jarrod Bowen, but it appears that they face an uphill battle trying to land the Hull forward after Nigel Adkins insisted that he is not for sale.
Bowen has been a revelation for the Tigers this season and it seems more than likely that if he was not in their side, Adkins’ men would be in the bottom three in the Championship rather than just outside the relegation zone.
The 21-year-old has scored 11 goals in 27 league appearances this term, and The Sun reports that Newcastle and Everton have both got the youngster on their radar as Rafa Benitez and Sam Allardyce both look to bolster their attacking options.
However, Adkins has insisted that Hull will not sanction Bowen’s exit this month as they look to ensure that they do not suffer back-to-back relegations.
“I won’t sell him, simple as that,” he said, as reported by The Sun. “There’s a spirit here, some young, talented players and we want to build on that.”
It would undoubtedly prove to be a huge blow for Hull if they did receive the kind of offer from the likes of Newcastle and Everton that tempted them into selling Bowen this month. While their transfer kitty would surely receive a huge boost, there is little time left in the month to replace the youngster.
And while Everton and the Magpies may view Adkins’ hands-off warning as a reason to step back, they must realise that if his form continues until the end of the season, his value will probably rise significantly once again and they may be left kicking themselves for not acting sooner.
