Everton and Leeds United are set to miss out on Fernando Llorente with the Napoli striker close to sealing a switch to Serie A rivals Sampdoria, according to Calciomercato.
Carlo Ancelotti has already been reunited with two of his favourite sons this year.
And reports suggested Llorente, a man he described as the “complete” centre-forward during their time together at the Stadio San Paolo, had been lined up to join James Rodriguez and Allan at Goodison Park.
The Mirror (4 September, page 72) reported the former Tottenham and Swansea City target man was viewed at Everton as a replacement for PSG-bound Moise Kean.
A Leeds side who have just the one classic number nine in the shape of Patrick Bamford were also keen on the 2010 World Cup winner.
But, after falling out of favour at a Napoli side that recently spent about £60 million to make Victor Osimhen their new record signing, Llorente is heading 700 miles north west instead.

Calciomercato reports Claudio Ranieri’s Sampdoria have agreed a deal to bring in the 35-year-old veteran.
Llorente is expected to earn £25,000 a week at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris (Gazzetta dello Sport, live blog, 3.20pm).
