Atalanta have already lost one hot prospect in January and don’t wish to lose another.

Everton and Chelsea will have to give up on signing talented Atalanta star Franck Kessie for now, as the Serie A side are not willing to sell the player at all this month.

La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the Premier League target is not for sale at any price this month. Atalanta’s president Antonio Percassi has decided the club cannot sell the Ivorian talent this month – as they have already lost one of their major assets recently.

The Italian club lost 22-year-old midfield talent Roberto Gagliardini to Inter Milan earlier this month and the president has decided that both players cannot be moved on in the same month.

The same report suggests that Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea were set to make big-money moves for the player. It also reported on Everton’s failed bid, which they claim was in the region of €18 million (£15.6 million).

Kessie, who is currently away at the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast, is just 20-years-old but has caught the eye during his time in Italy with Cesena and Atalanta.

But it appears that, for now at least, Everton and Chelsea may have to consider other options.
