Roma are getting closer to reaching an agreement for the transfer of a reported Tottenham Hotspur target, according to reports in Italy.
The Daily Mirror (Wednesday 9th September, page 55) claimed last week that Tottenham were ‘ready to buy’ the Napoli striker, Arkadiusz Milik.
But the last hours have seen ‘new and positive contact’ between Roma and Napoli, according to Calciomercato.
And it is said that Milik could move for €25 million (around £23m), of which €8m (around £7.4m) would depend on clauses being met, plus a player from the Roman side’s academy.
Milik, whom it is claimed would earn €4.5m-a-year (around £4.1m) after tax at Roma, was left out of Napoli’s squad for Friday’s friendly win against Pescara, as predicted by Calciomercato.
The website reported ahead of that game that Napoli were ‘evaluating new destinations for the Pole’, although Tottenham’s name was not mentioned.
Tottenham have been monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation all summer as they seek to a back-up to their first-choice striker, Harry Kane, according to The Daily Mirror.
