Turkish outlet Asist Analiz have claimed that Fenerbahce are interested in signing Arsenal’s David Luiz.
The Brazilian will reportedly be out of contract this summer. It was initially thought that Luiz had signed a two-year contract at Arsenal but Sky Sports revealed that the former Chelsea man will be a free agent at the end of this season.
A player of Luiz’s experience, being available for free, will alert a ton of clubs around Europe. Fenerbahce are reportedly keen on signing the defender but it is unlikely that they will be able to lure him in.
Arsenal are yet to offer Luiz a new contract but the Gunners are expected to. The Telegraph claimed that Mikel Arteta’s side will offer him a new deal, but on reduced wages, which Luiz is expected to agree to.
Arteta himself spoke out about the defender’s future ahead of Arsenal’s game against Manchester City later today.
He told Sky Sports: “I am really happy with David, I want to keep him here with us. He’s been a key role model since I joined. I like what he produces on the pitch, I like his influence around the players and the club – I would love to keep him.”

It is likely that Luiz will sign an extension at Arsenal
Luiz has been an integral part of Arsenal this season. His role became even more important when Arteta arrived at the club in December, and his influence on the younger players has also been massive.
Arsenal’s current financial situation, especially if they miss out of the Champions League again, will have a huge impact on their transfer plans this summer.
The most likely solution this summer will be that Arsenal will offer Luiz a new contract and the Brazilian will stay on for at least another year at the Emirates.
