According to La Nazione (Via CalcioMercato), Fiorentina are planning on taking Lucas Torreira on loan from Arsenal for the second half of the season.
Torreira’s situation seems to be rather complicated at the moment, with many reports claiming he’s due to return to Arsenal this month, while others report that the Gunners are ready to move him on permanently.
Just to throw another spanner in the works, Fiorentina are now keen to take over Atletico Madrid’s loan, and they believe they can do it without a heavy financial outlay.
The Serie A side clearly feel there is a deal to be done on the cheap here, but of course, it remains to be seen what this means.
Whether or not they will be paying a smaller percentage of Torreira’s wages or a smaller loan fee to Arsenal is unknown, but it doesn’t seem as though loaning the Uruguayan to Fiorentina will be a massive boost to Arsenal’s financial situation.
Torreira has of course played in Italy before, with Arsenal signing him from Sampdoria back in 2018, so perhaps this sort of move is exactly what he needs to rediscover a bit of confidence and get back on track.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not Fiorentina can reach a deal with Arsenal to make this happen this month, but the Italian outfit are apparently convinced that this is one that can be done cheaply.
This is certainly a situation that is worth keeping an eye on going forward.
