Sunderland are in need of more options in the forward department.
Reports emanating from Turkey today suggest that Fenerbahce are planning to offer Emmanuel Emenike to the Black Cats, in an attempt to secure the permanent signing of Jeremain Lens, who is currently on loan with the Super Lig outfit, according to Turkish media outlet Milliyet.
David Moyes is in desperate need of more firepower in forward areas, but whether he sees the 29-year-old as a solution to his side’s goalscoring woes is questionable.
Fenerbahce’s Jeremain Lens celebrates
The report from Milliyet claims that Fenerbahce are desperate to seal the long-term signing of Lens, after the Dutchman has impressed during his spell in Turkey, and that the Wearsiders could very well be tempted to do business, due to their desperation to add a striker to their squad.
Emmanuel Emenike during his time with West Ham
Sunderland have scored just 19 goals in 20 Premier League outings so far this season – the joint third lowest tally in the division.
The Nigerian’s record of two goals during 16 appearances for West Ham last season, however, doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, and Moyes would arguably be better off focusing his striker search elsewhere, as he looks to guide his side away from relegation trouble.
