Liverpool face competition for Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland in the form of Bayern Munich, who are now keen on the 21-year-old.
According to Bild, the European giants are putting plans into place for if star striker Robert Lewandowski leaves Bayern in 2022. And if the Polish international leaves, Haaland is the player Bayern want. Liverpool are keen on the Norwegian attacker, as well as Manchester City.
As per the report, it could be a monstrous deal in the terms of finances. Haaland’s release clause in 2022 is said to be €75m (£63m). Whilst other factors such as wages and agent fees could also top at another €70m (£60m).
Indeed, Liverpool, as well as Bayern, will have to have pull off all the stops if they are to sign Haaland. Yet for Jurgen Klopp’s side, the Bundesliga champions entering the race could spell nothing but trouble for Michael Edwards and company.
After all, Bayern essentially have a monopoly on the Bundesliga and all the top players in the division. Every summer sees the Bavarian side sign at least one exciting name from the German top-flight.
Indeed, this summer alone saw Bayern saw not only two players from RB Leipzig, the team that finished second the previous season, but also their manager Julian Nagelsmann. And this could give them leverage in a deal for Haaland.
Liverpool could race issues signing Haaland with Bayern looming

The 21-year-old attacker seems comfortable in Germany. And with the UEFA Champions League his main objective, Haaland could be open to a move to Bayern. Something the likes of Lewandowski and Mario Gotze have done in their careers.
As for Liverpool, they could still have a shot at Haaland. But with Bayern now firmly in the race, the Anfield side face a mountain to climb given the Munich side’s reputation of signing Bundesliga players.
