Lazio and Sevilla could yet make late bids for Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri on deadline day, according to a report.
BBC Sport have claimed that Shaqiri looks destined to leave Anfield in search for regular football after Jurgen Klopp left him out of Liverpool’s League Cup squad that was beaten by Arsenal last week.
Shaqiri isn’t the only Liverpool player who has struggled to break into the first-team given the sheer strength Klopp has at his disposal from the off.
But whilst someone like Divock Origi still finds himself in the matchday 18, Shaqiri is now even struggling to get into that.
It does seem the best possible solution for the 28-year-old would be to, at the very least, party ways with the club on a temporary basis.
He needs to remember that the European championships will take place next summer and he’s clearly not going to get enough minutes on Merseyside in order to ensure he’s firing for his country when that tournament comes along.
Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp
- Champions League
2018/19
- UEFA Super Cup
2019
- FIFA Club World Cup
2019
- Premier League
2019/20
In truth, whilst Origi has provided magical moments for Liverpool supporters – the winner against Everton, that Barcelona game and scoring in the Champions League final, Shaqiri hasn’t really got going during these past two years.
The Switzerland international still has time to push his career back on track and dazzle the footballing world with his unique style.
