PSG have reportedly identified Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez as a summer replacement for Angel Di Maria, who is likely to be on the move at the end of this season.

According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 giants are looking at the Algerian international as a replacement for the 34-year-old, with Mahrez’s contract situation making the City attacker a realistic signing for PSG.

As per the report, Mahrez could be available for as little as €30m (£25m), with City struggling to tie the attacker down to a new contract despite talks going on behind the scenes for months and the English club securing other key players to long-term deals.

The forward is enjoying his best goalscoring season to date, with Mahrez bagging his 20th goal in all competitions this campaign against Manchester United on Sunday, yet now the forward could replace a former Red Devil at PSG.

Di Maria famously joined the French club just one year after signing for the red side of Manchester for a reporter £60m according to BBC Sport, with the Argentine struggling under then-manager Louis van Gaal.

Indeed, City losing Mahrez would be disastrous for the club given his form this season, and to see him replace a former United star at a European rival will sting even more.

City can’t allow Mahrez to join PSG this summer no matter the cost

Mahrez has been City’s star attacker this season, and to lose the forward now with PSG now interested will be a slap in the face for supporters of the Manchester giants given how productive the African winger has been this campaign.

After all, the former Leicester City star has played a key role in keeping Pep Guardiola’s side ahead in the title race as well as keeping standards high in their latest attempt to win the UEFA Champions League, and with PSG now a European rival, Mahrez must remain in Manchester at all costs.
