Real Sociedad are reportedly close to signing Tottenham playmaker Bryan Gil on loan, with the Spurs winger set to return to Spain for the season after spending time with Valencia last campaign.
According to Golsmedia, the 21-year-old will return to his home country to sign for the Basque club on loan, with Gil believed to not be part of Antonio Conte’s plans for next season following the signings of Ivan Perisic and Richarlison.
Despite reports suggesting that Conte wanted to keep Gil for the club’s pre-season tour of South Korea, Gil now looks set to sign for Sociedad on loan, with the winger last season impressing for Valencia during a short-term spell with the Spanish giants.
Hailed as a ‘difference maker’ during his time with Valencia last season, Gil was outstanding for the La Liga side and played a key role in their run to the Copa de Rey final, where they were beaten by Real Betis on penalties, and the winger’s performances seem to have won the youngster another loan move, this time for Sociedad.
As per Golsmedia, Tottenham were looking to cash in on Gil this summer just one year after his reported £25m move to north London from Sevilla. However, suitors have been hard to find given how difficult it is to negotiate with Daniel Levy, which is why a loan move to Sociedad is now close to completion.
Gil is making the right decision signing for Sociedad on loan

Gil’s move to Tottenham was met with huge excitement from supporters, yet 12 months later, like many recent signings at the club, hype has faded into discontent, with fans now just wishing to see the back of the 21-year-old winger for good, and this is why joining Sociedad on loan is such a smart decision.
The playmaker showed last season with Valencia to be an incredible operator when in the right squad, and for Sociedad, Gil can become their main creative outlet, with the Basque side set to compete in the UEFA Europa League group stages.
