AC Milan sent a scout to Selhurst Park on Saturday to watch a mystery Crystal Palace player during their 1-0 triumph over West Bromwich Albion, as reported by Sempre Milan.
With a genuine European giant taking a keen interest in one member of Roy Hodgson’s squad, it would be a fair assumption Wilfried Zaha was the reason for their mid-March scouting mission.
The Ivory Coast international is the most talented and influential member of Roy Hodgson’s squad after all, scoring an impressive nine Premier League goals in 2020/21.
Furthermore, in December The Sun reported Zaha had been lined up as an addition to a Milan side dreaming of a first Serie A title in almost a decade.
Unlike rivals Inter, who have since overtaken the Rossoneri in the Scudetto race, Milan are in quite a comfortable financial position – although it remains to be seen whether they could afford the sort of fee Palace want for their twinkle-toed talisman.
Then again, Zaha isn’t the only Palace player who may be taking Milan’s fancy.

With Gigi Donnarumma out of contract in July, could Stefano Pioli’s side see Vicente Guaita as a cut-price replacement?
Eberechi Eze, meanwhile, is exactly the kind of technically gifted, highly promising youngster Milan have been prioritising in recent months.
And then there’s the soon-to-depart Patrick van Aanholt. Considering that Theo Hernandez is the only natural left-back in Milan’s squad, could the former Sunderland flyer swap Selhurst Park for the San Siro?
